REM
REM is a quietly ecstatic installation of more than one hundred unnameable images. Predominantly inky black on white, they range in scale from four to twelve inches square. Adapting themselves to the contingencies of each particular space, the constellations of images surge and eddy in clouds of association and juxtaposition. Also known as paradoxical sleep, REM is that period when we dream and manifest “rapid eye movements”. Disguise and revelation, horror and delight come to life in this intimate theater of the self. By day, the remembered fragments swarm and scatter as we muse over their shadowy remains.
