In the Black
Black is the space from which light emerges. Black is velvet, a resting place for the char after a fire. Black is without vanity or “curb appeal“. Black black black is the beautiful color of Hebrew letters, each one like a flame. Black is the great gift of night that folds our souls inward and downward to sleep, to hover over an infinite water. Black rises as it falls. It comforts in the same moment that it terrifies. I trust black. It is without ambition and completely comfortable with its place in the universe.
